HIRAC is Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control. It is a means of managing or eliminating risks in the workplace using the following steps:

  1. Hazard identification – the identification of hazards through formal or informal means
  2. Risk assessment – the overall process of risk identification, analysis and evaluation
  3. Control – taking appropriate measures to eliminate or minimise the chance of incidents.
