Once reasonable practicable risk control measures have been determined, you must complete a residual risk assessment; that is, go through the risk assessment process again to determine its new score and level. The residual assessment level must be Medium or Low. Any activity with a residual risk of High must not commence until the risk is reduced.
When assessing residual risk, the consequence from the initial risk assessment cannot change. The only change in the assessment can be to the likelihood of the hazard occurring. A description of the risk control measures to be used and how they will be implemented must be documented in a SWMS.
