When completing the SWMS, provide clear information about both risks and controls. First, conduct a primary assessment of the risk (e.g. ‘High 25’).

Once adequate controls have been identified using the Hierarchy of Controls, conduct a secondary assessment to verify that the residual risk has been reduced (e.g. ‘Medium 10’).
